Athens, The Contemporary Scene (2008)
If you visit Athens wide-eyed about modern Greeks with the genes of Socrates, Aristotle or Plato, you might come back a bit disappointed. Like Indians, modern day Greeks have to bear the burden of history and the expectations that arise from it. The Greek economy was in doldrums when I visited and is still struggling to get back on its feet. The people seem to have forgotten the vitality of their race, waiting for their own version of “achhe din”
